This tour combines focuses more on the adventures of a natural kind and the island’s cultural heritage to bring you an itinerary that gives you the best of all Sri Lanka has to offer – a true all-round experience full of optional mini excursions for you to add on to your itinerary.
Beginning in Negombo, you will journey with us through the country’s cultural triangle giving you a brief glimpse of the wonders of its ancient past kingdoms and their historical edifices. From there, and once you’ve had your fill the ancients, we take you through the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka and its hill capital Kandy, where the pomp and pageantry associated with the highly sacred and venerated Temple of the Tooth Relic will amaze you.
From here, we head further up into the central highlands and the charms of the old colonial hill station Nuwara Eliya, before we descend to the wilds of Yala and onto Mirissa for a date with Sri Lanka’s large pods of blue whales and sperm whales. Quite an experience!
DAY 01 - AIR PORT – NEGOMBO
Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport to a warm welcome from your chauffeur guide who will transfer you to Negombo just six kilometres away.
Depending on your arrival time, you could rest and recuperate at the hotel or explore the city’s fishing village for its fresh exotic seafood, and the colonial Dutch Fort to observe the bustling seaside town and its dwellers as they go about their busy daily lives. Alternatively, simply lounge at the beach and enjoy some cold beverages and a special gourmet feast of a complimentary mixed seafood platter.

DAY 02 – NEGOMBO – HABARANA
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the heart of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle in Habarana, which gives you easy access to the ancient cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Dambulla, as well as the famed Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
After lunch, as an optional excursion, we recommend the Hiriwaduna Trek for an authentic Sri Lankan village experience with its guided tuk tuk ride though the picturesque countryside. A bullock cart ride and the catamaran ride on the lake are also included, along with a home cooked tropical lunch with a local family, and a visit to a local farmer for a look at the fresh produce and their simplistic way of life.

DAY 03 – HABARANA – SIGIRIYA
After breakfast, travel to Sigiriya to climb up the world famous UNESCO World Heritage Site – the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and be amazed at the vistas over the jungle from among the ruins of the royal palace of King Kassapa.
Head back to Habarana and enjoy a jeep safari to either the Minneriya National Park, or the Kaudulla National Park to see wild elephant herds gathering by the watering holes.
Return to the hotel and spend your late afternoon indulging in some much deserved rest and relaxation by the pool.

DAY 04 – SIGIRIYA – KANDY
After breakfast, set out for the hill capital Kandy, and stop by in Dambulla for a visit to another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Dambulla Golden Temple, with its beautifully preserved examples of Buddhist art and sculpture within its extensive gold cave complex.
In transit to Kandy, stop at Matale for a walk through one of Sri Lanka’s famous spice gardens, home to the worlds’ highest quality cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms, pepper and other exotic spices.
Arrive in the historic hill capital of Kandy, and be entertained by a colourful cultural music and dance performance, before visiting the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic to pay your respects.
Kandy is the seat of the last King of Sri Lanka, with the Temple of the Tooth being the last Royal Palace Complex, hence Kandy has a special sense of culture and history that is evident in its art and traditional dance.

DAY 05 – KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast transfer to the colonial hill station of Nuwara Eliya – the heartland of Ceylon Tea, and called Little England due to its cool climes and misty mountains. En-route visit a traditional tea factory and visit the tea pluckers at work and learn how to choose just the right tea leaf. Later on visit the famed Ramboda Falls.
After lunch, take a walk around the town and stroll through the park, or visit the picturesque little Anglican Chapel, the horse racetrack, and the beautiful old colonial style golf club for some light refreshment.
Lake Gregory, in the heart of the town, is a great place for a stroll and promises some beautiful picture settings, in addition to the many public leisure activities offered along its banks such as boat rides etc.

DAY 06 – NUWARAELIYA – YALA
After breakfast, your chauffeur will drive you through the winding misty hills to Ella, a bustling little hill town with a variety of hikes and scenic attractions such as the ‘Little Adam’s Peak’, or the famous Ella Rock.
Depart Ella for the Yala National Park, and arrive at your hotel by lunchtime, where you may spend your day resting by the pool and readying yourself for the excitement to come.

DAY 07 – YALA - MIRISSA
After breakfast venture out on a morning game drive to catch a glimpse of the ‘big five’ – elephant, leopard, water buffalo, mugger crocodiles, and the elusive sloth bear. Yala has a high leopard population and hence a better chance of capturing some interesting wildlife photographs.
After lunch depart for the sunny southern beaches of Mirissa, where you can spend your afternoon soaking up the sun with your beverage of your choice and look forward to a stunning sunset, before the beach comes alive with the many entertainment options available.

DAY 08 – MIRISSA – COLOMBO – AIRPORT
After breakfast, head out on a whale watching boat for a chance to see Sri Lanka’s sperm whales and blue whales in their natural habitat breaching and lob tailing for your delight.
Afterwards, depart for Colombo with a stop at another UNESCO World Heritage Site the Galle Fort for a walk through its cobbled streets lined with quaint shops, restaurants, and bars.
Having come to the end of an exciting and adventure-filled holiday, your personal Chauffeur Guide will drive you to the commercial capital of Colombo where you can indulge in some last minute shopping before catching your flight home.
